Oh Dear! Isn't a Hog!
Related to the beautiful chital, this deer does have a squat, pig-like body. But it reminds you more vividly of a hog when it moves - with head held low down, without the fimiliar bounding action of other deer. Generally a solitary animal, the hog deer is wary and has an acute sense of smell, sight and hearing. Persecution by man has made the deer nocturnal in many areas.
